If you are looking for storage options for your vessel this winter, we have a limited selection of both indoor and outdoor storage available. Please talk to our team for more details.
As a dry storage facility and full-service boat work yard, Lions Gate Marina is a piece of the larger boating community and a community in its own right. As many of our long-term storage and work yard clients know, it is the community at Lions Gate Marina that makes it more than just a place to store or work on your boat.
We thank you for your support and for a great boating season in 2019. We look forward to another great year of boating in 2020!
The Lions Gate Marina Team
Marine Business Feature
Pleasurecraft Marine Services Inc. is a full-service yacht maintenance and repair company. Their staff of skilled mechanics and network of marine trades professionals, means there is no aspect of yacht care that they cannot handle. They are experienced in engine repowers, thruster installations, water-maker installations, large engine servicing, marine electrical and plumbing systems, impact/ log strike repairs, as well as many other yacht systems. They also carry out marine mechanical surveys and are certified dealer/distributors for Volvo, Cummins and Yanmar. The company was founded by Raymond Fourie in 1997. Raymond came to Canada with his family via a circuitous route, leaving South Africa in 1991 on a 30ft sailboat and arriving in Vancouver in 1996. It was this experience that produced the passion for boating which led the company to where it is today. As boaters themselves they understand the relationship owners have with their boats and strive to produce a quality of work that would make an owner proud. Their goal with all customers is to develop trust through a positive working relationship.
On August 24th we celebrated our Customer Appreciation Day on the amazing waterfront of our facility with music, food and happy customers. During the event we were honoured to receive our Clean Marine BC flag from the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard and Member of Parliament for North Vancouver, the Honorable Jonathan Wilkinson. Lions Gate Marina is the first North Vancouver facility to earn eco-certification and with continued education and participation we aim to achieve the top rating of 5 anchors soon!
On September 20th the District of North Vancouver Fire Fighters held their 8th annual charity fishing derby with over 200 enthusiastic anglers. Capilano River Hatchery staff took DNA samples and checked for tagged fish to keep records on salmon conservation efforts. Everyone who attended enjoyed a delicious BBQ, music and silent auction which raised over $40,000 for Athletics For Kids and the Seymour SalmonID society. CONGRATULATIONS to the DNV Fire Fighters and a big shout out to all the incredible volunteers!
We aren’t just a marina that lifts boats. We can load and unload barges as well. Pictured below is a recent barge we loaded with materials for a remote destination construction site.
Pisces VI Submarine Returns Home
Yes, it is true we have a submarine in our community! Pisces VI was originally commissioned in 1976 in North Vancouver by Al Trice. Al developed and manufactured the Pisces line of submersibles, which were the first operational vehicles in the world. Pisces VI owner Scott Waters from Kansas was fascinated with deep dive submersion from an early age which led him to build his first submarine (who knew “20,000 leagues under the sea could be such an inspiration). Scott’s life experience is full of adventure and discovery from sea to space, he served on the space advisory council for CSA/NASA and continues to provide consultation on human space flight. Pisces VI typically dives with Pilot, Scientist and Videographer. She descends 30m per min to a depth of 2180m in one hour. At this depth you are guaranteed to encountered species never recorded in history. You will have an opportunity to meet Scott and his brilliant team of international Scientists, Engineers & Mechanics and see the submarine this spring. Watch for more details in 2020.

Introducing the “A TEAM”! If you have not met our fantastic yard crew, please take a moment to say hi, next time you are here at the Marina. Our hardworking crew are recognizable by their blue Lions Gate Marina gear, bright smiles and incredible sense of humour. When asked what they like most about their job the consensus was, “being active outdoors, operating equipment and bottom washing”.
Their #1 safety tip is to always wear a PDF on the dock and when boating.
